Softlandia is an Applied AI company for people who want to build ambitious software in a modern way.

We work internationally, we move fast, and we take engineering seriously. Our HQ is in Tampere, Finland, and we also have offices in Helsinki and Austin, Texas. We primarily serve SaaS companies around the world, building AI-native products and integrating modern AI into existing platforms.

This is for you if…

You’re an AI-native developer who uses coding agents as a default.

You don’t write every line by hand anymore, because you shouldn’t have to.

But you still deeply understand software engineering fundamentals:

• system design and architecture tradeoffs
• maintainability, testing, and debugging
• performance and reliability
• APIs, integrations, and production operations
• how to ship, iterate, and keep systems healthy over time
  

In other words: you build with AI, but you don’t outsource your thinking.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll design and implement backend-heavy solutions where AI is part of the product’s workflow, not a side experiment.

Depending on the customer, you might:

• build new AI-native products from scratch
• integrate LLM capabilities into an existing SaaS platform
• design robust service boundaries and APIs
• turn product requirements into simple, scalable implementations
• ship production-grade systems with strong delivery practices
• work directly with customers and help them make sound technical decisions
  

How we work

We expect you to be comfortable with modern AI-assisted development.

That means you likely use tools such as:

• Claude Code
• OpenCode
• GitHub Copilot
• agentic coding workflows (planning, scaffolding, refactoring, test generation)
  

We care more about your ability to deliver high-quality systems than whether you typed the code yourself.

What we expect from you

You are:

• independent and delivery-focused
• curious and quick to learn
• clear in your communication, especially when things are ambiguous
• comfortable working directly with customers (technical and non-technical)
  

We strongly prefer:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS (or equivalent experience)
• fluent spoken and written English
  (Finnish is a plus, not required)
  

Location:

• Finland-based (remote is fine)
• occasional visits to Tampere or Helsinki are appreciated, not mandatory
  

Preferred profiles

Software Engineer with strong architecture instincts

You can design clean systems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and keep complexity under control.

Senior backend generalist who learns fast

You’ve built real products, you understand production realities, and you’re motivated to learn applied AI on the job.

These are primarily backend roles, but we appreciate engineers who can also handle UI work.

You don’t need to be a UI specialist, but you should be comfortable shipping full features end-to-end when the project calls for it.

Venture Studio option (if you’re entrepreneurial)

Most Softlandians work on customer projects, but we also build our own AI product ventures through Softlandia Venture Studio.

If you have an entrepreneurial mindset, you can start with consulting and later explore product work and possible spin-offs under the venture studio.
